PRINCE GEORGE – BC Transit is making some changes to its routes in Prince George with back-to-school, effective September 6th.

“Prior to COVID-19, post-secondary students made up 50% of our ridership in Prince George,” says Jamie Weiss, Public Affairs Advisor for BC Transit. “So it’s important our service meets the increased demand of students going back to school.” ·

The changes include:

*Reintroduction of K-12 school trips on the 12 Parkridge, 96 Shas-ti/Kelly via N. Nechako and 97 Shas-ti/Kelly via Highway 97 ·

*Reintroduction of additional trips on 15 Downtown/UNBC and 55 Victoria ·

*Additional peak trips on the 88 Westgate and 89 Hart ·

*Routing change to the 91 Spruceland/Hart

Route 1 Heritage loop trips currently operating via 5th Avenue and Ospika Boulevard will be renumbered to route 11.

In addition, routes 17 UNBC and 18 Spruceland will not be reinstated this service change.

The City moved one of the transit stops on Patricia Boulevard to accommodate the new student housing downtown and hopes to add an express bus from that location to the College of New Caledonia and the University of Northern BC.
