PRINCE GEORGE – The Spruce City Men’s Fastball League came to a wrap Thursday night as the top-seeded Decorum Painting Angels defeated the LTN Contracting Reds 8-3 at Spruce City Stadium.

A few hundred fans turned out to take in the final battle on the diamond for this season.

Robbie Antoine put forth a strong performance from the mound for the Angels while his counterpart, Norm Linton, finished the game with seven strikeouts for the Reds.

Angels’ Nick Potskin went four for four on his at-bats, scoring three runs and 2 RBI’s on the night.

“With our team, we’re a close-knit group and we stay up, stay positive,” said Angels’ Robbie Antoine. “No one gets down on each other. If someone makes a mistake, that’s okay. Just keep going and that’s what works for our team and the bats follow.”

With the 8-3 victory for Antoine’s Angels, it brought the conclusion to an overall successful season that saw some substantial growth for the Spruce City Men’s Fastball League from last.

“The league as a whole, absolutely. We’ve come a long way,” stated Antoine, who Starting with four teams and now up to seven, which is great and it’s only going to get better. I couldn’t be more proud of my team. We’ve got a young group of guys and we’ve been playing together for a few years. Finally, we’ve got the monkey off the back and finished on top.”

Antoine hopes the league can one day get back to the 10-12 teams it once was and hopes the league keeps on the trend of growth it experienced the past few seasons.
