Vaccine registrations have significantly increased province-wide

On August 24, there were 10,000 new registrations and 9,486 new appointment bookings across the province.

“I am pleased that people are heeding our call to roll up their sleeves to help stop the spread of COVID-19. But there’s more work to do, and I encourage everyone to make the best choice to protect themselves, their loved ones, and their community – get vaccinated,” said B.C.’s Minister of Health Adrian Dix.

Northern Health Spokesperson, Steve Raper, says that they are experiencing the same reaction. Vaccination rates have escalated within the Northern Health Region

“Since the announcement, we’ve seen steadily increasing numbers from just over 1900 to 3350. Almost double on a weekly basis,” said Raper.

The number of walk-in appointments has jumped as well in Northern B.C. Tuesday of last week saw well over a couple of hundred people, in Prince George, most of those walk-in appointments were first doses.

“We saw lots of walk-ins People coming in last minute trying to get an appointment. Really good seeing people coming from across the region., not just Prince George, to get their first shot,” Raper added.

The Province has also made a huge push for accessible vaccination clinics to ensure everyone who wants their vaccine can get one. Clinics have popped up around Prince George, most recently at the BCNE. Northern Health says that there are plans in the works for more pop-up clinics.

“We are working on some additional plans for clinics, that also includes a strategy around K-12 and post-secondary when students are back. We are working on some additional clinics beyond the regular scheduled clinic for those people who want their first dose or are ready for their second,” continued Raper.

As of September 13, 2021, proof of at least one dose of the vaccine will be required to enter some nonessential services and a second dose by October 24, 2021.
