B.C. reports 785 new cases of COVID-19

VICTORIA — The province is reporting 785 new cases of COVID-19 in B.C.

Of those cases, 94 are in the Northern Health region. Two more people have died and there are over 5,800 active cases province wide. Of the active cases, 483 of those are up north.

The number of people hospitalized with COVID-19 in northern B.C. is starting to rise. The province says there are 17 people in hospital, 13 of whom are in critical care.

The new/active cases include:

* 246 new cases in Fraser Health
* Total active cases: 1,504

* 110 new cases in Vancouver Coastal Health
* Total active cases: 1,042

* 266 new cases in Interior Health
* Total active cases: 2,299

* 94 new cases in Northern Health
* Total active cases: 483

* 69 new cases in Island Health
* Total active cases: 538

* no new cases of people who reside outside of Canada
* Total active cases: seven

In the past 24 hours, two new deaths have been reported in the Vancouver Coastal Health and Island Health regions, for an overall total of 1,818.
