Excitement in the air as kids head back to school in SD57

PRINCE GEORGE – It’s official, the kids are back in class across BC and here in School District 57.

Most parents and their children seemed excited when asked how they felt about going back to class.

Although the hope was that this school year would be a lot closer to normal, unfortunately, that is not the case.

Some COVID-19 restrictions remain at schools including health checks, and mandatory face masks for Grade 3 to Grade 12 students and all adults.

In School District 57, elevated cleaning protocols and practices will continue to the same level as last year. Cleaning practices include increased custodial staff and sanitizing practices that some other districts in the province have dropped.

COVID-19 public exposure notices have also been dropped, although if there is a cluster of two or more cases parents will be notified according to the SD 57 Communicable Disease Plan.

You can view the entire plan here.

School District 57 has roughly 13,000 students spanning Prince George, Mackenzie, McBride and Valemount.
