PG RCMP respond to recent anti-vaccine mandate protests
PRINCE GEORGE – Throughout the pandemic, restrictions have been met with both support and opposition. But ever since the B.C. Government announced its plan for a province-wide vaccine mandate, some groups have become increasingly vocal.
“Demonstrators have a lawful right to protest and at the same time companies have the lawful right to complete their mandated work. The RCMP is working hard to keep both of these rights at the forefront as well as keep public safety paramount,” Said Prince George RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Cooper.
Nearly 300 people gathered in front of the UHNBC on September 1, 2021, while thousands more gathered in front of hospitals in Vancouver, Victoria, and Kamloops. The majority of the crowd was calm but some belittled media. Most recently, protesters took to the streets in front of CKPG on Saturday. Prince George RCMP did not attend either protest but say they were monitoring to ensure they would not get out of hand.
