Barkerville $500,000 gold donation helped keep 2021 season alive

BARKERVILLE—As the summer tourist season for Barkerville comes to a close, the historic park says it was all made possible thanks to $500,000 donation in real Barkerville gold.

The Barkerville Heritage Trust says that it recieved the donation from Barkerville Gold Mines. Thanks to that money, the park was able to overcome a serious provincial funding deficit.

Earlier this year, Barkerville was pleading for $670,000. There was a COVID-relief program that could have provided $500,000, but the historic site was not eligible for it.
