COVID-19 outbreak continues at Fort St. John Hospital, but no new cases identified

The outbreak declared Aug. 28 for the Inpatient Unit at Fort St. John Hospital continues, but Northern Health (NH) says ongoing monitoring and testing has not identified any additional cases.

As of Sept. 9, NH says four patients and three staff have tested positive for COVID-19. Two patients have since recovered. Sadly, one of the patients who tested positive in association with the outbreak has passed away.

NH says its closely monitoring for additional cases, and the facility is taking enhanced outbreak precautions such as:

• increased frequency of cleaning and infection control measures
• enhanced symptom monitoring among all staff and patients
• reducing movement of staff and patients between care areas of the hospital
