COVID-19 has claimed five lives at Jubilee Lodge

PRINCE GEORGE — Northern Health says the COVID-19 outbreak at Jubilee Lodge, a long-term care facility in town, has now claimed five lives, two of whom were epidemiologically linked.

To date, 20 residents have tested positive for the virus and three staff, and four additional resident cases have been epidemiologically linked due to exposure with a confirmed case.

A COVID-19 outbreak was declared there earlier this month.

Enhanced outbreak control measures are in effect to help limit the spread of the virus, including:

  • Increased frequency of cleaning and infection control measures
  • Enhanced symptom monitoring among all staff and residents
  • Reducing movement of staff and residents in the facility
  • Temporary suspension of social visits (essential visits are not impacted, and can continue)

Northern Health says public health officials will continue to monitor the situation carefully over the coming weeks and will only declare the outbreak over when they are confident that chains of transmission have been stopped.
