Frustrations mount over online NH COVID-19 test booking form

PRINCE GEORGE – Just days after Northern Health launched its new COVID-19 test booking system, and already frustrations are growing from a Prince George woman.

“It’s just a stalling tactic,” said Tammy Loehndorf, who was waiting to get her COVID-19 test on Wednesday.

Loehndorf said when you complete the online booking form, you can’t actually book an appointment.

At the end of completing the form, you get a message that someone would call you to book an appointment.

CKPG News has reached out to Northern Health who have not made themselves available for an interview.

Loehndorf noted Northern Health does not offer any other options aside from an appointment to get a COVID-19 test as well.

Other health authorities have found other options to get their populations tested, drive-thru clinics, drop-in clinics, and more have been normal in Vancouver Coastal, Fraser, and Interior Health.

Here in Northern health, the strategy has not changed in over 12 months with solely appointment-based COVID-19 tests.

Concerns have also been raised around the backlog of getting a COVID-19 test in Prince George as well, even BC’s Provincial Health Officer weighed in promising to take action last week.

The number of tests being conducted in Northern Health has skyrocketed according to BC CDC data, and the turnaround time for a test result to be returned was just under 40 hours.

It is unknown how much time the wait is to get an appointment to be tested for COVID-19 in Northern Health.
