Retailers prepare for holiday shopping early

PRINCE GEORGE – While the Christmas season is two months away, retailers are already gearing up for the holiday shopping season. But, retailers are having to rejig how they get their merchandise.

“We ordered in bulk and ordered extra knowing,” explains Kim Hurlston with Jim’s Clothes Closet. “Because last year, what we ran into is, if you didn’t order by October, supply was an issue.”

And there are a number of reasons for it. Firstly, the pandemic created a whole new shopper. Secondly, the manufacturing sector shut down during the height of the pandemic and is struggling to catch up. Add to that has created a shipping backlog.
