Wildfire Summary 2021

PRINCE GEORGE – The numbers are in and the wildfire season of last year was one of the biggest on record, with a whopping bill of 565 million dollars.

During the height of the fire season, the province’s ability to import out-of-province firefighting resources posed potential health risks to staff.

Another challenge the wildfire service faced was the memorable “heat dome.”

An above-average snowfall last winter helped suppress fire starts up north.
