PRINCE GEORGE – A wave of controversy, and disturbing videos have wiped out Stuart Parker’s campaign to become a school trustee in School District 57.

Parker spoke to CKPG News on Friday and said he would not be running in the School District 57 byelection over a number of death threats he had received since his announcement last week.

This comes following a spirited protest immediately after Parker’s campaign launch which featured Chris Elston an extremely controversial figure who was previously involved in a JK Rowling sign dispute in Vancouver.

Several disturbing videos from a September 2020 third-year UNBC history lecture also resurfaced where Parker referenced sexual abuse towards children.

Several of Parker’s former students raised serious concerns about a man they said should not be involved with children. CKPG News protected the identities of two such students who both spoke about his behaviour.

A flurry of other candidates for the Prince George trustee seat announced they would be running on Friday as well.

Andrew Burton, Lance Forsberg, and Shannon Freeman all submitted their paperwork on deadline day.

Brian Trotter a former longtime SD57 employee in the maintenance department with six grandchildren in the system put his name in the race who wants to fix problems outlined by the SD57 Special Advisors Report

Milton Mahoney a former investigator put his name on the ballot as well. Mahoney said he knows there needs to be an investigation done and he can be the one to do it.

Audrey McKinnon was the first to join the race with a focus on inclusivity and implementing recommendations from the SD57 Special Advisors report.

The Mackenzie trustee seat will be a two-way race between Rachael Weber, and David Szucsko.

Weber spoke to CKPG News last week about her plans to work on making sure rural schools were included in an equal way and to implement recommendations from the SD57 Special Advisors report.
