HOUSTON, B.C. — R-C-M-P say they’ve been called again to protests over the Coastal GasLink pipeline under construction in Wet’suwet’en territory in northern B.C.
The Mounties say they’re investigating allegations that protesters damaged trucks and fired flares and bear bangers at security officials.
The group called the Gidimt’en Checkpoint says its members are reoccupying the area where several people were arrested last month, enforcing an eviction notice issued to the company by Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs last year.
The R.C.M.P say anyone who blocks workers’ access to the area is in breach of a court injunction and could be arrested.
