PRINCE GEORGE– As the WHL Season winds down the games for the Prince George Cougars become more and more important. The team returned home earlier in the week however with the World Women’s Curling Championships taking place in the CN Centre the team has had to make some adjustments. Which means practicing in a totally new place, KIN 2.

As the team prepares to head back to Victoria this weekend they’ll look to bounce back after dropping 3 of the last 4 against a Royals team who they are battling with for a playoff spot.

Speaking off playoffs this is a cougars team almost desperate to reach the postseason once again. The Cougars haven’t secured a playoff spot since 2017 when they were BC Division Champions. 5 years ago. And to add to the struggles of playoff drought, not one player currently on the roster has playoff experience, and to Head Coach and GM Mark Lamb, it’s something you can’t teach and would be crucial for a young cougars team to get that taste of playoff hockey.

With losses comes frustration and chippiness, something players are showing more of at practice. While it may be a sign of frustration setting in, the veterans on the team believe it’s a positive as it shows this team is competitive and also helps replicate that intensity during live games.

The Cougars are still technically in the midst of a seven-game road trip, however, the team will truly be on the road for the next five games with no return to Prince George until April 2nd.
