Spruce Kings name Colton Cameron as 22nd captain in team history
PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Spruce Kings announced on Wednesday defenceman and Bentley University commit Colton Cameron has been named the 22nd captain in franchise history (since joining the BCHL in 1996).
“Going into my fourth year as a Spruce King, I’ve experienced nothing but good things,” said Cameron. “Not only do I like living in Prince George, but being with a professional, hardworking, and respectable organization is something I’m very lucky to be a part of. Now to be asked to be the captain of such a team, I feel very honoured. This team has a long list of great captains before, so I have some big shoes to fill. The players that will be returning will make the role even more enjoyable as they are all such a great group of guys who put their heart and soul into everything we do as a team. They too will soon realize how awesome our fans are and how great it is to be a Spruce King.”
“Colton will be an excellent leader for our group,” stated Head Coach Alex Evin. “He epitomizes what it means to be a Spruce King and leads by example. The way he plays, he’s always sacrificing himself for the team’s success above all else. He’s admired by teammates and coaches, and respected by opponents, he’s certain to serve as a great ambassador for the Spruce Kings and all of Prince George.”
“Colton epitomizes what being a Spruce King is all about,” added General Manager Mike Hawes. “He works incredibly hard on and off the ice, leads by example, and is a tremendous person and teammate. He’s very deserving of the honour of being our organization’s captain.”
