PRINCE GEORGE– Carrier Sekani Family Services helped open the Sk’ai Zeh Yah Youth Centre back in November of 2020, during the pandemic. Since then the shelter has done wonders, offering a helping hand to youth in our community

Sk’ai Zeh Yah translates to Children of Chiefs House. With the goal to make a safe special place, youth on the streets can go when they are struggling. A demographic that’s often forgotten. They are provided with care workers for emotional support, nurses if needed, as well as a variety of activities, like culture courses, cooking classes, and drumming sessions.

Although anyone can help get services from Youth Centre they still embrace their indigenous roots teaching their clients about the culture, whether it’s games to play or stories told. It also provides youth on the street a safe place to reconnect with indigenous culture or a place to just rest.
