Update: Search for armed MacKenzie man ,now a missing person investigation

MACKENZIE- Update: The police search for an armed Mackenzie man , is now transitioning to a missing person investigation. Officers have been working exhaustively following leads and tips in the area of Lost Lake trail since Wednesday , in an attempt to locate 39 year old Colin Taylor .

He is not believed to be equipped for an extended stay in the wilderness and friends and family have serious concerns for his health and well being. Taylor was last seen wearing a baseball cap, white t-shirt and blue jeans.

At this time there is no indication the public is at immediate risk, but preventative measures should still be taken seriously. Should anyone come across Colin Taylor, you are asked to immediately contact Mackenzie RCMP at 250-997-3288.

MACKENZIE — Update: RCMP have released new details into the search for an armed man in Mackenzie.

Police say they were called to the Lost Lake Trail just after 6:30 last night for a report of a 39-year-old man with a rifle.

A witness says the man was acting strangely and that he fired several shots. A shelter in place order was issued but lifted at around midnight.

The RCMP’s Emergency Response Team has been called in and the search for the man continues.

Locals are asked to avoid the trails east of town and Morfee Lake Road.

Earlier: Residents in the District of Mackenzie were asked to shelter in place last night because of an individual with a firearm.

The shelter in place started at around 8 p.m. and ended at around midnight but the individual with the firearm is still at large the Mackenzie RCMP told CKPG News this morning.

Residents are asked to stay away from the trails near and around Morfee Lake Road.
