PRINCE GEORGE – Premier John Horgan announced a one-time payment relief back in March of this year. This rebate would be a sum of $110 and was promised to customers by the spring.

According to the ICBC website, personal insurance customers who had an active eligible basic auto insurance policy at any time during the month of February will receive a $110 relief rebate.

Rebates were to be rolled out by May with deposits made to each eligible customer by their original form of payment. Well, it is mid-July, and thousands of people still haven’t seen it.

ICBC Critic and Prince George-Mackenzie MLA Mike Morris says he is disappointed in the delay.

“Very few people have seen them, if any, in the province here. I think it was a failed attempt [sic] at government to try and placate the people of British Columbia. And they continue to overtax British Columbians. We’ve got the highest gas prices in North America still, and nothing has changed.”

CKPG News reached out to the government for comment and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General sent us this statement regarding the rebate.

* We’ve issued all 25,000 rebates to customers who signed up for direct deposit. We’ve also issued all credit card rebates to eligible customers (573,000).
* All other customers, including those who paid by debit, cash, cheque, or payment plan, as well as customers whose credit cards could not be processed (for reasons including expiry dates or other technical reasons), will receive their rebate as a cheque.
* We’ve processed all 2.8 million cheques and are printing and delivering them to Canada Post in daily batches. We are on track to have all cheques in the mail by the end of July as planned.
* Overall, we are sending out roughly 3.5 million relief rebates to our customers totaling
$396 million.

They also added no additional ICBC rebates are planned. If you would like to learn more about this particular rebate head to ICBC website.
