Kodiaks face tough-outting in season-opening loss in Chilliwack
CHILLIWACK — The Prince George Kodiaks opened up their first season in the BC Football Conference with a season-opening clash against the Valley Huskers Saturday night at Exhibition Park in Chilliwack.
Despite a strong performance out of the Kodiaks in the first half of the game, trailing 10-5 at the half, their inexperience as a young club shined through in the latter parts of the game as the Huskers pulled away to put away a 31-5 victory.
In the first quarter, the Huskers opened the scoring on their first offensive drive of the game, settling for a field goal to go up 3-0. On the ensuing drive, the Kodiaks matched the scoring with a field goal of their own. Noah Schneider took claim to the first-ever points scored in team history, tying the game up at 3-3.
The second quarter saw the Huskers add a touchdown through the air as quarterback Josh Janssen established the passing attack amidst a balanced offensive scheme between the both the run-game and putting the ball through the air.
