Quebec’s anti-corruption unit says a former vaccination centre employee has been charged with fabricating information used to generate fake QR codes used for the province’s vaccination passport.

Authorities say in a statement the woman was working at a COVID-19 vaccination site in Quebec City when the alleged acts occurred in September 2021.

The anti-corruption unit, known by as UPAC, alleges the woman was registering false information in the vaccine registry for herself and for others.

Because of the false information, those people were able to obtain QR codes attesting that they were vaccinated against COVID-19.
