IIO launches investigation in Williams Lake
SURREY — B.C.’s Independent Investigations Office (IIO) has launched an investigation into a situation in Williams Lake that resulted in a man being taken from police cells to hospital.
In a news release, the IIO says Williams Lake RCMP arrested a man November 13 and placed the individual in an RCMP holding cell. Two days later, the man was found to be in medical distress and was transported to hospital. There is no further information on the man’s health status.
The IIO will be looking into the matter to determine if police actions or inactions played a role in the man’s condition.
