PRINCE GEORGE — Rising temperatures have prompted a high streamflow advisory from the BC River Forecast Centre for the following areas in B.C.’s interior:

  • Upper Fraser including plateau areas around Prince George (including Chilako River, Chuchinka River, Salmon River and surrounding areas)
  • Middle Fraser including plateau areas around Quesnel and Williams Lake (including Nazko River, West Road River, Baker Creek, Cottonwood River, San Jose River and surrounding areas)
  • South Interior including Lower Thompson, Salmon River and Okanagan (including Cache Creek and surrounding areas)

The City of Prince George says river levels are rising quickly and forecasted water levels could force city parks and trail closures as early as Monday.

If the City’s Emergency Operations Centre is activated, evacuation alerts will be delivered to affected residents along Farrell street by Tuesday or Wednesday next week.
