Structure fire on 1700 block of Redwood Street

PRINCE GEORGE — Update: Prince George Fire Rescue have provided details on Saturday’s fire.

They arrived on scene to find a detached garage with a carport fully engulfed in fire. Crews quickly extinguished the fire with damages estimated at $50,000.

There were no injuries and the cause is under investigation.

Earlier: Prince George Fire Rescue responded to a structure on the 1700 block of Redwood Street just after 3 p.m. this afternoon.

Witnesses on scene suggest it was a carport that caught fire along with a car, though that is not confirmed.

The fire spread quickly but crews have knocked it down. No word on the cause or if anyone was injured.
