With heat wave on the way, experts concerned about flooding
PRINCE GEORGE – The sun is coming out and another heat wave is coming to Prince George and all of British Columbia.
While a lot of people get excited when the weather gets warm, scientists are raising some concerns. According to UNBC professor, Dr. Joseph Shea, a big dome of high pressure, similar to the one in 2021, will settle over the region. At this time of the year, that can have a big impact on floodings.
“There’s still a lot of snow up high. And when we get high temperatures, clear skies, you’re going to start to see (snow) melt really pick up and small creeks and rivers that come out of the mountains are going to rise fairly rapidly over the next three or four days,” Shea explained.
