PRINCE GEORGE — There is a new campaign to help people become more aware of the links between alcohol and cancer. We learn more about this link in this week’s to your health.

Recently, the BC Cancer Agency and the B.C. Government have launched a campaign to help people become more aware of the links between alcohol and certain types of cancer. Back in January, Health Canada released Low-Risk Alcohol Drinking Guidelines which says that drinking alcohol increases the risk of developing certain types of cancer like throat, liver, colon and breast cancer.

The guidelines that have been put out by Health Canada say that if you have 2 drinks or less per week, you are likely to avoid alcohol-related consequences for yourself. However, the guidelines are not specifically targeted for one specific individual.
