To Your Health: Wildfire Smoke

Jun 30, 2023 | 8:25 AM

PRINCE GEORGE — The wildfire season started early in B.C. this year, which meant that more smoke has been in the air than normal. We learn more about the impacts of wildfire smoke in this week’s To Your Health.

Wildfire smoke arrived to Prince George and the North earlier than usual this year after an early start to the wildfire season. When the smoke drifts in, it will bring with it poor air quality and miniscule particles known as PM 2.5.

When it comes to certain health impacts from wildfire smoke, everyone will be affected differently. Milder and more common symptoms of smoke exposure include headaches, a mild cough, sore and watery eyes and nose, throat and sinus irritation.
