Kevin Falcon steps down as BC United leader following Conservative election victory
PRINCE GEORGE — Former BC United leader Kevin Falcon has announced he is stepping down from the party’s leadership, citing the B.C. Conservatives’ election victory and the completion of key responsibilities he believed were necessary before his departure.
In a statement posted to social media, Falcon said he remained leader in recent months to resist efforts that could have further divided the centre-right vote in British Columbia. He revealed that he informed the president of BC United on Tuesday evening of his decision to step aside.
The announcement comes after BC United was removed from Elections BC’s registry of political parties earlier this month, following the party’s decision to suspend its 2024 provincial election campaign amid plummeting support.
