How to keep your pets safe from the smoke this summer

Jul 17, 2023 | 4:21 PM

PRINCE GEORGE- As the smoke clears Prince George Monday Morning Ginter’s Meadow was full of pet owners.

This comes after weeks of poor air quality, which the BC SPCA says can impact your dog as much as you.

“The same applies for animals as they do for humans,” said Eileen Drever of the BC SPCA. “You want to avoid vigorous exercise, continuing to stay cool and hydrated.”

The smoke in the air can impact our pet’s respiratory systems if too much is inhaled. It also gets caught in their fur so making sure your pet is clean this summer should be a priority.

Ultimately, the BC SPCA suggests keeping your pet inside when smoke fills the area.
