PRINCE GEORGE- Prince George filled the streets with Lemonade Stands Wednesday for the 11th Big Squeeze event.

In all corners of the city, more than 25 businesses and restaurants put their best lemon beverage forward to support Big Brothers Big Sisters.

The funds raised at Wednesday’s event will benefit the Big Brothers Big Sisters’ proactive mentoring programs.

“We have our one on one programs which match an elementary school student with an adult that acts as a positive role model,” said Jael Reimer, the fund development and events specialist with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern BC. ” We also do group programs as well, things like rock climbing, snowboarding in the winter, we do golf, all kinds of different things.”

One of the businesses involved with The Big Squeeze Wednesday was The Exploration Place, which went all out for the judges.

“We call it our London Sunshine. It’s an Earl Gray tea steeped with our homemade lemon syrup and lemon juice we squeeze here on onsite,” said Jeni Arnott of Origins Kitchen.

The Exploration Place is looking to defend its best-tasting title from last year when it shared the honour with Active Body Nutrition.
