Prince George expected to receive 15 to 25mm of rain Wednesday

PRINCE GEORGE — Much needed precipitation has arrived in the Prince George area.

Environment Canada has put out a special weather statement is in effect for Prince George as an upper low brings rain to the region. They say that there will be significant rainfall on Wednesday and that 30 to 40 millimeters of rain is possible, with the potential for localized amounts near 50 millimeters in some spots.

Areas that are expected to receive these high amounts of precipitation are:

  • Areas south of Highway 16 in the Prince George and Stuart-Nechako areas, including Red Rock, Hixon, Punchaw, Euchino Creek
  • Western sections of the Cariboo region – areas from Highway 97 westwards, including Quesnel, Williams Lake and Nazko
  • Northern sections of 100 Mile region including 108 Mile Ranch

The rain is expected to ease tonight, however there is a risk of thunderstorms in the region as well.
