14-year-old raises over $800 for BC Children’s Hospital

PRINCE GEORGE—14-year-old Murphy Crampton is an avid builder and Halloween fan and every year he spends every dollar he earns to build elaborate Halloween displays for the community to enjoy.

This year he wanted to use his display to give to a good cause of BC Childrens hospital. His family helped open his yard to the public with a goal of rasing $500. However, almost doubled their goal and raised $873.

Located near Southridge Elementary the display known as Spookridge Corner handed out by donation hot chocolate and gave people a spot to take photos in front of their 21 foot tall Frankenstien’s Monster.

This year over a thousand people got in on the action from children to adults alike wanting to get pictures in front of the displays. By the end of the night they calculated 662 trick or treaters and they handed out 1200 pieces of candy.

We have always supported his love for the holidays and helped in any way we could. We are so proud of our son and how much he has achieved, how happy he makes people feel and how generous he is. He truly is an inspiring young man that knows how to make one day feel like a month of celebration to share with all. Thank you, Prince George, for all your support, donations, waves and honks as you pass by. You made us feel so much warmth from the community.

As for Murphy he says there is 365 more days to next Halloween. Him and his family have named the event “Blow up The Yard”, and he hopes to make displays for every holiday from Christmas to Easter and even plans for a Valentines day display.
