PRINCE GEORGE— SD57 has elected Craig Brennan as the new board chair for the 2023/2024 year. Erica McLean will serve as his Vice Chair.

Brennan has had 40 years of experience as an educator and served as vice chair last year under Rachael Weber. Rachael Weber was nominated for the position of Board Chair this year but she decline while nominating Brennan for the position instead.

Sarah Holland was the runner up and was nominated for both the Chair and Vice Chair position. However, she fell just shy in votes for both positions. Brennan believes that she would’ve been a great choice for chairperson citing her enthusiasm and dedication to the role of trustee.

Through the position Brennan hopes to work together with the Board to create the best conditions possible for student learning while strongly advocating for the budget and resources needed in order to make the SD57 successful.

“I believe the position of Board Chairperson is about positively influencing people to reach new heights,” says Craig Brennan, Board Chair of SD57. “I believe in being part of a high performing team. I believe that we are stronger together. Improving student achievement and ensuring that all the students have equal opportunities to reach their full potential are important responsibilities. This Board will continue to do its work of stewarding the Strategic Plan and supporting our staff in making our District a wonderful place to work and learn.”

Elections happen every November.
