WENATCHEE — The Prince George Cougars started off 2024 with a big 6-2 win over the Wenatchee Wild on the road Wednesday night.
It was their third consecutive victory and featured forward Zac Funk’s sixth hat-trick and fortieth goal.
Riley Heidt added a pair of goals and the Cougars newest addition Borya Valis had three assists in his debut with the team after being acquired over the weekend in a trade with the Regina Pats. Josh Ravensbergen made 25 saves for his 14th win of the season.
The Cougars outshot the Wild 36-28. The Cougars now sport a 27-10 record good for first place in the WHL, one point ahead of the 25-8-2-1 Saskatoon Blades who have one game in hand.
