Countdown to the Prince George Iceman: Ice Oval crews work overtime amidst cooler temps and light snowfall
PRINCE GEORGE – It’s been a few weeks since the last snowfall in our area, but we expect light dusting and cooler temperatures this week. Therefore, the Iceman volunteers are working extra hard to prepare for the annual Winter Challenge, leaving no room for error.
As soon as the temperature dropped below freezing, the ice-making crews at the Prince George Ice Oval began flooding the area to create a smooth surface for skating. The light snowfall that followed relieved event organizers, who can now rest easy.
The Prince George Iceman, a multisport endurance race that has been around for 37 years, is back this weekend, February 11th, having paused for only two years because of the pandemic. However, with the event only a few days away, organizers still need volunteers to help make it possible.
