Strategic alliance agreement signed between McLeod Lake Indian Band and Ulkatcho First Nation

PRINCE GEORGE — Representatives from the McLeod Lake Indian Band, Ulkatcho First Nation, various business groups and others were present in Prince George on Thursday afternoon, to witness the signing of a strategic alliance agreement between McLeod Lake and Ulkatcho.

Chief Lynda Price of the Ulkatcho First Nation says that this agreement will allow for strong economic opportunities.

“It’s such a wonderful day for us to witness this ceremony. It’s an opportunity for the Ulkatcho First Nations to partner with various companies, to look forward to economic opportunities that will help build not only build the capacity, but also provide economic opportunity and jobs.” – Chief Lynda Price, Ulkatcho First Nation

Chief Harley Chingee of the McLeod Lake Indian Band says that this agreement will allow both nations to seize on opportunities that previously may not have been available. He also said that this will “build trust between nations, because a lot of times we talk about industry just showing up and then leaving the next day …. we’re going to be here for a long time.”

Both the Ulkatcho Group of Companies and the Duz Cho Group of Companies say that the ceremonial signing signifies a shared committment to sustainable and impactful project development. The Duz Cho Group of Companies is 100% owned by the McLeod Lake Indian Band and the Ulkatcho Group of Companies is the economic and business development arm of the Ulkatcho First Nation.
