Nearly a million people in BC without a family doctor
PRINCE GEORGE — Nearly a million people in B.C. are without a family doctor, and since a new payment model was introduced last year, 708 new doctors registered to work in primary care, but more are needed, and Minister of Health Adrian Dix says that despite the challenges, getting 708 new doctors registered in primary care is still a big accomplishment.
“700 net new longitudinal family doctors in the first nine months of the payment model, something which is I think beyond anyone’s expectation.” – Adrian Dix, B.C. Minister of Health
One focus for the Ministry is making sure that doctors who train in B.C., stay in B.C.
