Gas could jump as much as 15 cents by Monday

PRINCE GEORGE — Gas prices are on the rise and it doesn’t look like we’ve seen the worst of it yet.

Currently, prices are hovering just shy of $1.20 per litre but that could go up as much as 15 cents come Monday.

“After this weekend, probably Monday or Tuesday, most stations will have no choice but to sell gasoline for no less than $1.25, with most heading to $1.35,” said Dan McTeague, Senior Petroleum Analyst with GasBuddy.com.

One factor at play is the Carbon Tax which is set to go up 1.16 cents a litre with GST as of April 1st. Also, the Canadian Dollar contributes. All commodities, including gas and diesel, are priced in US terms, which means if the dollar drops, we’ll end up paying more at the pumps.
