Cougars fall in Everett for fourth consecutive road loss

EVERETT, WASH. — It’s going from bad to worse for the Prince George Cougars as they dropped their fourth consecutive road game, a 4-1 defeat to the WHL-leading Everett Silvertips Saturday (Jan. 18) night.

Terik Parascak’s 20th of the season was the only offense the Cougars could muster at the Angel of the Winds Arena as they dropped all four games of their road trip with losses in Spokane Friday, in Kamloops last Saturday, and in Kelowna the day before that.

The Silvertips, who have a league leading 194 goals, kept Cougars goaltender Joshua Ravensbergen busy all evening. The 18-year-old made 19 of his 37 saves in the opening period, which ended 1-1.

Tarin Smith opened the scoring for the home team at 6:08 of the first period before Parascak evened things up at 17:43.

Tyler MacKenzie restored Everett’s lead with a shorthanded goal in the second period before goals from Cole Temple and an empty netter from Dominik Rymon in the third gave the Silvertips both points.

Everett goaltender Raiden LeGall picked up the win with 19 saves on 20 Cougars shots.

The 32-5-3-3 Silvertips have 70 points from 43 games, while the Cougars dropped to 24-14-3-2. They’ve got 53 points from 43 games, and sit in in fifth in the Western Conference. They Cougars are second in the B.C. Division, four points behind the Victoria Royals

Perhaps some home cooking is what the doctor ordered for the Cougars to return back to winning ways. They’ll begin a five-game home-stand on Friday night (Jan. 18) against the Brandon Wheat Kings.

Puck drop from the CN Centre is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
