Cougars looking to bounce back during 3rd Annual Indigenous Weekend

PRINCE GEORGE— Following two losses on the road against the Chiefs and Silvertips last weekend, the Cougars are back at the CN Centre looking to rebound from their first four game losing streak in over two years.

“We learned lots about our team going through the stretch where we lost four games in a row. What we understand is we have to be more disciplined, stay out of the penalty box and we have to do a better job of making sure we get all players in positions to get it rolling through our four lines and six defensemen,” said Cougars Associate Coach, Jim Playfair.

After spending the past couple of weekends on the road, the Cougars return to Prince George and the CN Centre for a special celebration.

There’s expected to be packed crowds this upcoming weekend, as the team is celebrating their 3rd Annual Indigenous Weekend. In years past, the event was held for just one game, while this year they have extended it to both Friday and Saturday’s contests.

“Such a special weekend. It will be so awesome to have a (nearly) sold out crowd both nights and it to be rowdy. It’ll be easy to get up for those games and we’re pumped. Very special weekend with who we’re honouring, so it should be a lot of fun, said Cougars forward, Matteo Danis on the teams upcoming weekend.

The Cats will welcome the Brandon Wheat Kings to town for the teams only match up of the season and wrap up their Indigenous Weekend celebrations against the Kamloops Blazers on Saturday.
