PRINCE GEORGE – Lheidli T’enneh singer-songwriter Kym Gouchie has been nominated for a JUNO Award for the Children’s Album of the Year category for her album “Shun Beh Nats’ujeh: We Are Healing Through Songs.”

“This nomination is an honour, not just for me but for all the voices and stories I carry with me,” says Gouchie.

“Creating music for children has allowed me to share the beauty of our languages and traditions in a way that inspires curiosity, respect, and joy. To see that recognized on a national stage means everything,” she added.

The album holds a deep personal connection for Gouchie, as it intertwines her family’s voices and her community’s wisdom. This includes hearing echoes of her grandmother’s voice, the steady rhythm of her mother’s heart beat, and the laughter of her grandchildren. The album was created over the course of four years in consultation with language holders and elders, and Gouchie says the album is both a joyful celebration and a powerful tool for preserving Indigenous language and cultural teachings.

Gouchie is a well known musician in the community, as she not only performs at many local events, but also advocates for Indigenous rights and Indigenous representation in the arts.
