PRINCE GEORGE — The Prince George Cougars got the better of the Kamloops Blazers 4-2 on Cougars Fight Cancer night at the CN Centre Friday (Feb. 28).

Terik Parascak had a goal and two assists while Joshua Ravensbergen finished with 29 saves, as the Cougars kept pace with the Victoria Royals for top spot in the BC Division with nine games left to play.

Parascak and Viliam Kmec had the Cougars up 2-0 after the first period. Parascak struck first at 9:31 followed by Kmec at 15:32.

While Tommy Lafreniere pulled one back for the Blazers early in the second, goals from Borya Valis at 9:35 and Riley Heidt at 12:45 had the home team up 4-1 going into the final intermission. Both those Cougar goals were assisted by Parascak, who was named first star, and Carson Carels.

Emmitt Finnie gave the Blazers a bit of life inside the opening minute of the final period, but it was all they could muster as Joshua Ravensbergen stood tall in the Cougars net. Ravensbergen finished with 29 saves on 31 shots to pick up his 30th win of the season.

In the other crease, Logan Edmonstone turned aside 21 of 25 shots in a losing effort, as the Cougars took the season series over Kamloops with five wins to the Blazers two.

The Blazers will host the Cougars in a rematch at Sandman Centre in their final meeting of the 2024/25 regular season. Puck drop is at 6:00 p.m.
