Unemployment rate in Prince George rises to 7.6% in February

PRINCE GEORGE — The February unemployment rate in Prince George came in at 7.6 per cent.
Statistics Canada says that’s up from 6.8 per cent this time a year ago. The 7.6 per cent unemployment rate represents 4,200 people. The unemployment rate in northern B.C. is based on a three-month average based on our population.
Slight decreases were seen in construction, manufacturing, business building and other support services while there was a slight increase in accommodations and food.
Nationally, the unemployment rate was unchanged from the month before at 6.6 per cent with just 1,100 jobs added to the Canadian economy.
