PRINCE GEORGE — Downtown Prince George has launched a new bike valet service that will be available at six events this summer.

The free service is designed to promote active transportation, reduce congestion, and enhance the downtown experience.

“This new initiative offers a secure and convenient way for residents and visitors
to store their bicycles while attending some of the most popular downtown events,” a statement from Downtown PG said.

People are being told to look for the big red tent at the following events:

  • Naguz’ An “Upcycle” Container Market, June 5-7 at Canada Games Plaza
  • Community Art Days, July 12-13 at Two Rivers Gallery
  • Downtown Summerfest, July 19 at Veteran’s Plaza
  • PG Library’s Touch a Truck Event, Date TBD at Canada Games Plaza
  • PG Farmer’s Market Corn Festival, August 30 at Third Avenue
  • Women’s Collective Weekend, September 19 to 21 at Civic Centre

Downtown PG will also be partnering with the Prince George RCMP who will be on-site with Garage 529, a bike registration and theft prevention program.

“This initiative is about creating a more bike-friendly downtown while also addressing safety, which we know is a concern for many residents,” Downtown PG Executive Director Chrisie Berry said, in a statement.

Funding for the Bike Valet comes fro a variety of sources including the BC Cycling Coalition and the Ministry of Transportation and Transit (MoTT), as well as number of community partners.
