Driver suffers serious but non-life threatening injuries in power outage causing crash

PRINCE GEORGE — RCMP have provided details regarding Sunday’s single-vehicle crash on Highway 16 West.

Police say it happened just before 3 p.m. when the driver and single occupant of a Chevy Malibu suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Evidence gathered at the scene suggests that the vehicle was westbound when it swerved, crossed the median and struck a power pole.

Alcohol is not suspected, however police believe a medical event may have been a contributing factor.

The crash led to a massive power outage in Prince George Monday afternoon. The three hour outage allowed BC Hydro crews to repair its damaged infrastructure.
