PRINCE GEORGE — The UNBC Timberwolves were beaten in a pair of Canada West soccer games in Prince George Friday (Sept. 12) night.

Prince George product Trevor Scott scored his first Canada West goal in the 88th minute but the UNBC men were unable to spark a comeback as they fell 3-1 to the Saskatchewan Huskies at Masich Place Stadium last night.

Scott, a graduate of Prince George Secondary, is in his fourth season with the Timberwolves. The veteran midfielder beat Jaron Slopinski with a left-footed shot that was set up by Mehdi Bounaaja.

Dante Molina, Ty Lee, and Tao Hein all scored for the 1-3-1 Huskies who picked up their first win of the Canada West campaign. UNBC, meanwhile, is winless in their last four as they drop to 3-3-1 on the season.

Also last night, the UNBC women were allowed six goals in a 6-0 defeat to the UBC Okanagan Heat to stay winless this season. UBCO led 2-0 at half time and they added four more goals in the second half to improve to 2-2-1 this season.

UNBC’s Johanna Rathke added nine more saves to her U SPORTS-leading total of 87. Her UBCO counterpart Allyson Ford stopped all four shots she faced to earn the clean sheet.

Both UNBC teams are on the road next weekend.

The women are in Kamloops to play the TRU WolfPack on Saturday (Sept. 20), while the men head to Alberta to face Calgary on Saturday and Mount Royal on Sunday.
