Kodiaks prepare for end of the season push

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Kodiaks offensive drought came to an end this past weekend as they put up 35 points against the Valley Huskers. The only problem was the Huskers scored 35 points of their own. The Kodiaks draw with Valley did have a lot of positives to take away as the special teams unit stood up when it mattered including a punt return touchdown. Head Coach Jamie Boreham stressed that while there were some things to iron out the offenses resurgence has the team feeling optimistic heading into the final two games of the season.

“Still some some errors that are costing us too big on the scoreboard and on field position but it’s nice to see the offense get going a little bit with consistency. When we needed to score and needed to drive we were able to move the ball. But one of the biggest parts of the game and it really should be week after week is our special teams and it’s nice to see our return game step up. Our coverage was good.” said Boreham.

Coach Boreham says this week off will help the team recalibrate and focus coming off of two disappointing games. The area of focus for the Kodiaks is defense as the team looks to get back to their early season form just in time for the playoff push. Coach Boreham says that the team is determined to show up in all 3 facets of the game and start making some noise.

“It doesn’t matter who it is, it matters about us doing our playing our football. We haven’t put four quarters of football in three phases of football together in any one game and for us to be successful moving forward against Kamloops and moving on, you gotta put together three phases of football and play four quarters. We need to focus on us focusing on what we’re doing. This is where we need to get ourselves right and go handle some business.” said Boreham.

The Kodiaks have this weekend off and then face the 0-7 Kamloops Broncos with a potential playoff birth on the line.
