Problem property to come before council Monday

PRINCE GEORGE — Prince George council is preparing to drop the hammer on the owners of a problem  property.

At Monday evening’s (Oct. 20) regular meeting, council will hear a report calling for nuisance measures at 4235 Quentin Avenue.

The property has been the source of no fewer than 44 complaints to RCMP and City of Prince George Bylaw Services since July 2024. As detailed in a staff report to council, the complaints chiefly revolve around disturbances, makeshift dwellings on the property, unruly dogs and mischief.

The property owners have been issued four tickets and several warning letters in the past 13 months.

Earlier this month, neighbours told CKPG Today the home is the site of obvious drug activity.

Staff say this is a shining example of the type of property the city’s Nuisance Abatement Bylaw was created to address. If council agrees and passes a resolution to enforce the bylaw, all nuisance activities would be ordered to stop.

“Such an order is strengthened by the city’s ability to recover certain abatement costs if the nuisance activities continue,” notes the report. “The intent is that the nuisance activities will cease going forward.”

The owners of the property, Sau Wu and Josephine Lau, have been invited to plead their case to council at Monday’s meeting.
