Wind warning issued for Haida Gwaii off B.C. coast, gusts of 110 km/h expected

Nov 19, 2025 | 9:03 AM

HAIDA — A wind warning has been issued for parts of British Columbia’s north coast, with gusts of 110 kilometres an hour expected at Haida Gwaii today.

The warning from Environment Canada comes as a strong frontal system tracks across the region, and the weather forecaster says some wind damage is possible.

Environment Canada says residents on Haida Gwaii should secure loose objects and expect possible disruption to utilities, transportation and other services.

The winds are expected to subside by evening.

Meanwhile, Environment Canada has also issued a warning of extended snowfalls for a stretch of highway linking the Alaskan Panhandle through northwestern B.C. into the Yukon.

The forecaster says parts of Haines Road may see as much as 35 centimetres of snow today, and snowfall is expected to last through Thursday evening.
