PRINCE GEORGE — A 31-year-old Prince George man is being charged with assault and resisting arrest following an incident at the Pomeroy Inn & Suites Tuesday afternoon.

Prince George RCMP Cpl. Sonja Blom says shortly before 2 p.m. that day police were called to the hotel for a report of a man who was behaving “in a bizarre manner.”

“It was reported that he was running around the lobby and had attempted to punch a staff member,” she says. “Upon arrival, Prince George RCP officers arrested the male and he actively resisted their efforts to get him into handcuffs. After a short confrontation between the male and officers, he was taken into police custody. As a precautionary measure, the male was transported to hospital to ensure his well being.”

The man was scheduled to make an appearance in Provincial Court yesterday.
